Luna Real Bride - Ailsa

Luna Bride - Garden Wedding

How was your experience in looking for a wedding dress? Did look at lots of different designs/ places?
I found the idea of going into a wedding shop a wee bit intimidating so I wanted to avoid that! I originally had a wedding dress which I got online on ASOS about a year before my wedding. I quite liked this dress but it didn't really blow me away.. I kind of just settled on it!
A few months before the wedding, I started looking online at dresses and that's when I know I wanted something different from my original dress which was tulle and had quite itchy, more structured fabric.. I decided I would like something more floaty and casual for a summer wedding!

What attracted you to come to Luna Bride?
I was looking online at alternative wedding dress sites to the usual big wedding dress designers and found Luna Bride on Etsy! I was instantly attracted to the beautiful, floaty dresses and to the organic fabric and gorgeous lace! This was exactly the kind of dress I wanted! I knew that I was more excited looking at any of these dresses than I had been about my original dress, or anything else I had seen!

Which dress did you go for and how was the process from choosing to receiving your final dress?
I went for the beach dress. It is such a beautiful dress! I was instantly attracted to the stunning lace detail and to the flowing silk. I also particularly loved the beautiful sparkly belt used to accessorise the dress. The dress was so light and soft and was a dream to dance in during the evening ceilidh.
The process was so smooth and easy. I contacted Keely on Etsy and she sent me a sample dress in the post to try on. Once I knew it was the one, I ordered the dress and sent Keely my measurements to make it bespoke for me. Keely was also really accommodating and made the dress in such a short turnaround!

How did you choose your wedding venue, photographer e.t.c.?
We kind of fell upon the venue when we were looking up unusual venues in Edinburgh. The Secret Herb Garden was perfect for what we wanted though; a relaxed, informal wedding with a relatively small guest list. It is such a beautiful setting, in abundance with gorgeous flowers and greenery. They created absolutely stunning flower arrangements for myself, my bridesmaids and to decorate the venue. They also supplied welcome cocktails with canapes after the ceremony, the incredible 5 cakes that we had after dinner, and the evening snacks laid on to sustain the dancing!

Our main meal was supplied by Union of Genius who are an amazing cafe in Edinburgh. Their food is delicious! They served hot options from their food van (Dumbo), and also set up a table laden with salads and cold options for our guests to help themselves to! It was just the easy, hassle free option we wanted.

I originally saw our photographers, The Gibsons, in the Scottish Wedding Directory and was instantly drawn to the style of their photographs. They have captured some amazing, candid moments of us and our families is such a informal way that really highlights the atmosphere of the day! They made us feel so at ease and were a joy to work with!

Do you have any top tips for other bride to be's on leading up to their wedding?
Just relax and do what you want to do! Don't think that you have to include something in your day just because it is the traditional thing to do! Some of the traditions are fun to include but if that's not your thing then make the day as personal to you as you want. Try to avoid being influenced by the obsession with the day going perfectly and embrace what comes! The whole day passes so quickly so try to relax and enjoy it!

What was the reaction to the dress?
Everyone was so complementary about the dress and a lot of people commented on how well it suited the day and the setting! It was just want I wanted and I am so please that people notice how happy I was with it. I love it!!

Tell us about your wedding day?
It was an absolutely beautiful, sunny day in a week that had been full of downpours! I wasn't too nervous for the wedding, just excited mainly!!
It was so lovely to get ready with my best friends and, later on, my parents. We got a ribbon-decorated taxi to the wedding and my favourite part of the day was walking up the hill, amongst the flower beds to all the guest and my husband-to-be waiting at the top of the hill!
Our ceremony was beautiful, surrounded by friends standing on top of a wee hill in the Secret Herb Garden. We had personalised the ceremony by having readings from our favourite films and songs, and playing some of our favourite music.
After the ceremony we chatted and mingled with our friends and family and then the Gibsons took lots of lovely photos before the meal and speeches in the glasshouse of the Herb Garden. Then it was time for a ceilidh!
Our friends played the music and all of our guests joined in for a dance in the barn (lit with twinkly fairy lights)! Only a few hours later.. It was time to leave! The whole day past so quickly and I would happily take us all back and repeat it! We had so much fun. Luckily we can go back and visit Secret Herb Garden whenever we want!
